A Training of Trainers for Rescue Service Officers from northern communities has been organised for 5 days, from 15th to 19th of April 2024 in MIA CMSA training centre in Lusakert.
The aim of the ToT was to train the Rescue Service officers, who will train Volunteer Fire Rescue Groups in the 12 communities, to the VFR system, the VFRG handbook and the Standard Training Curriculum developed for the volunteers.
The ToT was organised and leaded by the AutRC Fire Rescue expert. 1 volunteer and 1 professional firefighter instructors coming from France were in charge of the practical exercises. The theoretical presentation was led by 3 Crisis Management State Academy officers who are currently involved in developing a Fire Rescue Instruction Manual for professional and volunteer rescuers, another project activity.
12 Rescue Officers from 6 fire rescue stations (Noyemberan, Ashotsk, Spitak, Chambarak, Abovyan, Tumanyan) attended the ToT. The group was managed by 1 Rescue Service officer from the Ministry in Yerevan. 1 volunteer from the Garni VFRG also attended, as a first step to link professional and volunteer training process.
On Monday 15th of April, the ToT was opened by Mr. Tigran Petrossyan, Deputy Head of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Mr. Thierry Girard, Programme Manager of VolFiRe project. A complete set of VFRG equipment was on display in a room where each item was introduced to all participants.
The first session, introduced by CSMA officers, focused on the pedagogical approach to be used when organising training sessions for volunteers.
The other sessions were organised between theoretical presentation, introducing the VFR system, VFRG handbook and Standard Training Curriculum, and outdoor practical exercises related to the modules Fire Structure and Operational Techniques.
The different modules of the Standard Training Curriculum introduced to participants were:
- Module Structure Fire
- Module Forest Fires and Wildfires
- Module Operational Management & Command
- Module Miscellaneous Operations
- Module Technological and Natural Risks
- Module Operational Techniques
An evening of presentation and discussion was also organised by the two French instructors. They presented the latest fire-fighting and rescue techniques developed and implemented by the French firefighter service.
