The VolFiRe workshop ‘’Induction for counterparts’’ has been organised by the Armenian Red Cross Society in the city of Vayk on 31st of August and 1st of September 2023 for 6 of 12 communities where Volunteer Fire Rescue Group (VFRG) will be established. The 6 communities represented were Baghramyan, Garni, Vedi, Areni, Vayk, Kapan.
Each community was represented by the local focal point of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the VFRG mentor. The mentors are local Armenian Red Cross Society staff members. Their role is to lead the establishment of the VFRGs within the communities and to support the VFRGs for strengthening their capacities during the project implementation period.
The aim of the workshop was to introduce to RS focal points and ARCS mentors the overall VFRG model and the different steps to be respected in order to ensure the establishment of the Volunteer Rescue Fire Groups in each community.
The different aspects introduced and discussed with the participants were the following:
- Overall presentation of communities targeted
- VFRG Operational Doctrine
- VFRG Operational System (alert & response, crews…)
- VFRG curriculum
- VFRG equipment
- VFRG Organisation & Regulation
- VFRG job descriptions
- Planning of activities from September 2023 to August 2025
One introduction session for inclusion was also organised by Armenia Caritas (AC).
