Within the framework of the project "Institutionalizing a Volunteer First Responder Service in Armenia (VolFiRe)", a "Disability Inclusive Gender Analysis" was carried out by “CIVITTA AM” and “UNISON” NGO under the leadership of Caritas Armenia, in cooperation with Caritas Austria (CA) and other project’ partners Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) and Austrian Red Cross (AutRC).
The objective of the analysis was to ensure that the planned interventions are gender and disability responsive and improve gender equality and the empowerment of women and men with disabilities, and to identify appropriate steering measures where necessary.
- Strengthening the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities in the model of VFRG’s has the following goals: Conduct a gender and disability analysis of the VFRG’s (including regulations and procedures) and develop recommendations
- Implementation of recommendations to facilitate the inclusion of different groups of volunteers (youth, women, elderly, disabled).
- Support project implementers in creating an organizational structure of roles and responsibilities
- Assisting and guiding the recruitment of volunteers for the new VFRGs
- Development and implementation of trainings aimed at raising awareness on gender equality and disability inclusion

A presentation of the results of "Disability Inclusive Gender Analysis Study" was held in Yerevan on 13rd of July 2023. The meeting was attended by the representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia (MIA), as well as representatives of NGOs involved in the protection of the rights of people with disabilities and women, the Armenian Red Cross Society, Armenian Caritas and Austrian Red Cross. At the end of the meeting, participants asked their questions and came up with their recommendations.
