On 15th and 16th of June 2024 the Austrian Red Cross and the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia organised a two days training for the Volunteer Fire Rescue Group of Khachik.
The training was organised in four components:
- Volunteer Fire Rescue System training, theoretical, with distribution of the VFRG handbook to all volunteers and community representatives.
- Induction to new equipment: rescue set, new firefighter helmets with headlamps, radios, water backpack pumps…
- Fire & rescue training without PPE, practical
- Fire & rescue exercise with PPE, practical
The main aim of the exercise with PPE was to learn how to work as a crew, with each crew member having a specific role in the deployment: crew commander, driver, team leader 1, team member 1, team leader 2, team member 2.
The same fire & rescue scenario was used as for the first simulation exercise organised with Volunteer Fire Rescue Group in Khachik on 17th of June 2024.
